fast shipping, came as listed! very happy!!
Poorly written and with no real interesting info, a complete waste of money which does no justice to a great band, buy the DVD recounting the 25 years of the band, much much better
Love the band, love the stories! For all true Cannibal Corpse fans you should read their stories in detail.
the 21st century biography of my all time favorite gore metal band. you will find out what celebs love this band, hints at whom was fired and why(a lot of assumption and back history knowledge will help out a lot).

i but one admission...when chris barnes was fired from C.C. my first instant thought was. IF this bands replacement vocalist is not equal to or better than barnes, then i will NEVER buy another C.C. album again! but when "vile" came out and i heard the first ten seconds of devoured by vermin, my very fist impression was...C.C. is going to be JUST FINE and for the rest of their careers. it is also because of this band i am a fervent fulci, ittenbach(europrints), schnaas(europrints), miike', nishimura/benji, polumbo, roth, nicholson, P. Jackson(europrints) <all x-rated only) and x-rated era troma fan. and i have C.C. to thank for that!
The Centuries of Torment DVD had a 3 hour documentary on the history of the band, so Joel McIver tries to cover some different ground in this book. It focuses only on the current lineup, and each member gets their own section detailing their personal and musical background. There is an interview section with band members as well as Metal Blade honcho Brian Slagel, and the whole package is rounded off with lyrics, most of which annotated with comments by the songwriters.

OK, this is kind of a fluff piece, but what "authorized" biography isn't? It is a fast, enjoyable read with some new information and insights, however. I understand some of the criticism that the author shouldn't assume that everyone has seen the DVD, but in all fairness who but a Cannibal Corpse fanatic would buy this book? I would guess 95% of them have everything the band has produced, so thinking they would have the DVD is a fair assessment.

Don't expect a tell-all full of backstabbing and debauchery. This is a book by a fan of the band, for fans of the band. Any Cannibal Corpse fan will love it; those looking for tales of sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll shouldn't bother. 3.5 stars.
As a die hard fan of Cannibal Corpse , I can only recommend this book to those with the same enthusiasm. Personally , I don't find Joel McIver to be a great writer ; Bible of Butchery reads more like a metal magazine . A few interesting revelations about individual band members' childhoods are revealed , as are insights into the creation of the band's macabre lyrics. Printed lyrics culled from the band's discography serve as filler and photography of the band offers nothing new . The interviews are entertaining and the biographies of each musician is intriguing . Failing to interview Chris Barnes was a misstep , also , since he was an integral part of the band's history and claim to fame. As a true biography , this book falls short ; it could have been more detailed and longer . The book may have benefited from interviewing other journalists, musicians, fans or family members of the band for more depth . Since I am a collector of all things Cannibal Corpse , I found this to be an enjoyable addition . It's an easy read but it could have done without the filler. If you see it here used on at a cheap price , then go ahead and grab it ; I wouldn't pay more than $20 for it , though . The Centuries of Torment dvd is much more informative and entertaining ; it does the band better justice than this novelty book.
If you're a cannibal fan you need this great book!
